The tesla coil is basically a SGTC (Spark Gap Tesla Coil) and is based on Nikola Tesla’s work over 100 years ago.
Our tesla coil apparatus is easily tabletop operable, and includes two antenna plates, a small neon light bulb, a mini discharge electrode and a lamp socket.
When a fluorescent light bulb is held near the Tesla coil, it glows—and no wires are needed to make that happen.
Students can compare how the high frequency high voltage energy produced by the tesla coil apparatus is different from conventional electricity. It defies most insulation material, transmits energy without wires, produces heat, light and noise yet harmlessly passes through human tissue with virtually no feeling or shocking effects!
