BIOTS CONDUCTOR

This device is used for demonstrating that charge resides only on the outer surface of a conductor.
The apparatus consists of a sphere with a diameter of 5cm. This sphere is mounted on an insulated rod.
A pair of hollow hemispheres, each with an insulated handle, is provided to be used in conjunction with the hollow conducting sphere for showing that an electrostatic charge resides on the outer surface of a conductor.
Students can appreciate the fact that when the outer hemispheres are removed, the inner sphere is found to be uncharged.
