COMPOUND BAR

• It consists of strips of dissimilar metals bonded together and is used to demonstrate the differential expansion of metals in a bimetallic strip.
• It comprises of a length of bimetal strip 150x15mm, mounted in a wooden handle.
• The strip is only 1mm thick so that very little heat is required to produce considerable bending.
• Overall length= 270mm approx.

It is available in two varieties:

1. Bimetallic strip of brass and iron
2. Bimetallic strip of copper and steel.
